CENTRAL ASIAN YOUTH SESSION “SUPPORTING CAREER PATHWAYS IN GREEN PROFESSIONS”

On December 12, 2023, as part of the international online conference “The Silk Road of Knowledge: Science meets Green Policy,” the youth session “Supporting Career Paths in Green Professions” was successfully held.

The goal of the youth session was to demonstrate the attractiveness of green careers to young people and promote networking, experience sharing, and inspiration for career achievements in the field of sustainability.

Representatives from leading companies and organizations from Central Asian countries spoke at the session, sharing their experiences and opportunities for developing green business in the region:

  1. Ms. Maria Genina, Project Manager for Sustainable Business, DKU spoke about the concept of ESG and its importance for business and also presented options for professional development in the field of sustainability.
  2. Ms. Alima Isembaeva, Head of Corporate and Regulatory Relations, Coca-Cola Kazakhstan shared her experience of successfully implementing the principles of sustainable development in the activities of the Coca-Cola company.
  3. Ms. Marina Pobedinskaya, Green Star covered the topic of hydroponics and aquaponics in running a sustainable green business.
  4. Ms. Dana Shukirbaeva, CEO, ESG KZ Consulting Bureau presented the startup "Resilient City Platform" and discussed its role in assessing risks and viability.
  5. Mr. Zhan Suleimenov, FlyArystan spoke about green finance and its importance for sustainable development, providing valuable ideas and practical examples.

The session was attended by 57 people - young researchers, students, and environmental activists interested in issues of “green business” and sustainable development. In terms of gender, the session was attended by 36 women and 21 men.

The youth session “Supporting career paths in green professions” was an important step in providing promising future careers for young professionals in the field of sustainability. Session participants had a unique opportunity to be inspired by successful practices and deepen their knowledge in the field of green professions.
